Upgrading to ZBrush 4.0 PC or Mac

ZBrush 4 is a free upgrade for all customers – even someone who purchased the very first ZBrush release 10 years ago. It is not necessary to have any copy of ZBrush currently installed in order to install version 4.0. If you have a license for an earlier version of ZBrush you will fall into one of two categories:

Current users of ZBrush 3.12/3.2 Mac or 3.5 PC are being sent upgrade instructions by email. These instructions are being sent to the most current email address on record for your account (the one that you enter when activating ZBrush). Remember to check your spam filter or junk mail folder as these emails are sometimes blocked by those. If you do not receive your upgrade instructions by Monday, August 16, 2010 please submit a ticket at https://support.pixologic.com and choose the Upgrades category. Include your ZBrush 3.12 or 3.5 serial number and/or cleverbridge reference number in order to facilitate processing of your upgrade. Due to the high volume of support requests that invariably come with any version launch, please be patient and allow up to a week for your request to be processed.

Users of earlier ZBrush versions will not receive upgrade instructions automatically. You will need to submit a ticket at https://support.pixologic.com and choose the Upgrades category. In your ticket you will need to include as much as you can of the following: The name that was used to purchase ZBrush, the email address that you used at time of purchase, where you purchased ZBrush from (the Pixologic store or the name of the specific reseller that you bought through), the approximate date of purchase and the version number of ZBrush that you are currently using. Once we have located your account we will reply with upgrade instructions. Please allow several business days for processing.

In both cases, the upgrade will be to the same platform that you currently have. It is not possible to change from PC to Mac or vice versa when upgrading. If you would like to be able to run ZBrush on both platforms, please see the Cross Platform Special information in the Pixologic Store.

Documentation for ZBrush 4.0 PC or Mac

Within your ZBrush 4 folder you will see a subfolder called Documentation. This contains three PDF files. The What’s New document gives detailed information on all features that are new to ZBrush since version 3.2. The Starting Guide is directed at people who are brand new to ZBrush. It includes helpful information to get you started, as well as a tutorial that covers the basics of sculpting, painting and rendering a model. Finally, there is a Tutorials document containing nine detailed articles by ZBrush 4 beta testers. This document will help anyone master the new features introduced with this version.
