Exporting Normal Maps

From ZBrush Info

Jump to: navigation, search

Once a normal map has been created it will automatically be applied to your model as a Texture. The material applied to your model may affect the look of the normal map in the Zbrush interface, however the material will not affect the actual map. You can switch the material to "Flat Color" to get a better idea of what the map looks like.

The normal map will be placed in the User Textures section of the Texture palette. To export the map, select it in the palette and click the Export button at the bottom of the palette. A dialog box will open up that will allow you to save the map to a location on disk.

Be aware that when applying the normal map to the model in another 3D package, you may need to flip the map vertically in order for it to work correctly. The UVs for the model must also be consistent between Zbrush and your 3D package.

Normal maps can also be exported from the Displacement Exporter.
