Exporting Displacement Maps
From ZBrush Info
To export a displacement map directly from ZBrush, simply select the map in the Alpha palette, press the Alpha: Export button and save the file to disk in the file format of your choice. PSD, BMP and TIF formats are available.
If you wish to make adjustments to the alpha using the Alpha Adjustment Curve in the Alpha palette, be sure to press the Ep button before exporting, otherwise the original unmodified alpha will be exported.
To ensure that your alpha is correctly displayed in your external application, you may need to make use of the Alpha Depth Factor - the value for optimum displacement intensity - so, while the alpha is selected, note down the figure from this slider (which is at the bottom of the Alpha palette).
Displacement maps can also be exported from the Displacement Exporter.
