Bump, Displacement, and Normal Maps
From ZBrush Info
This section is an accompaniment to ZBrush/ZMapper. Its purpose is to provide an explanation of the basic conceptual concepts of the normal mapping process, including how it relates to other types of rendering techniques such as bump and displacement mapping. Bump, Displacement, and Normal maps are generally used to add detail to models at render time in other 3D modeling and animation packages (Maya, 3D Studio Max, XSI, etc.) These maps can be created and exported from Zbrush.
